Good morning. If someone still does not know who I am, my name is Elaine Ardeth R. Brown. My first name, Elaine Ardeth, came from two people named Elaine L. Jack and Ardeth G. Kapp. They were both prominent leaders in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was born. My parents are converts of this church, and if they are here, they have much to tell about their experiences and testimonies--they're in California. Sister Jack served as the second counselor in the Young Women general presidency under Sister Kapp. Later, Sister Jack became the president of the Relief Society, while Sister Kapp remained as the Young Women general president of the church when I was born.
I am not well-known person, but I was called, confirmed, sustained, and entrusted as the primary teacher for the Riviera Branch last Sunday. The adversary was powerful and tried to distract me from my goals. One of my goals is to read my scriptures first thing in the morning and to read the "Come Follow Me" book before anything else. My problem is that I misplaced the Spanish copy that Sister Mariana Pimentel gave me, and I am overwhelmed. Throughout the week, it was hard to sleep. Even Google Translate is not working for me on my tablet, so I asked the elder missionaries to help translate what I say so I could be understood by the Spanish branch members where I am attending. I was very frustrated. But I knew there is help. God called me to teach, and I knew he will always help me. Fortunately, in the middle of the week, I actually found the English copy of "Come Follow Me" that I forgot I had. I have also received a prompting that it's okay if I don't read right away in the morning, I pray anyway when I wake up. I need to "just do it" (the reading scriptures) when I can. I need to do it in order to prepare with helping the kids in the church to learn more about Jesus. As long as I do it everyday, I am okay. My faith was tested, and I persevered and also repented for the times I was not able to study—no more excuses especially that I found the book. I studied when I could. I stood in the pulpit and shared my testimony. I was prepared to answer the call, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
